Micha is a Danish knitwear label that has been designing for women since 1932, and this season it has landed in camel, leopard and soft blue. The jumpers are the heart of it: roll-necks, cowl necks, an eyelash knit in white leopard. Alongside them sit faux fur and quilted jackets, and a bucket hat cut from the same taupe fur. More than ninety years of womenswear behind it, and none of the caution that usually comes with that.
What made us bring Micha in is that it does colour and pattern without tipping into costume. A camel houndstooth roll-neck and a camel leopard print fluffy jumper can sit in the same wardrobe as everything else you own, which is not true of every printed knit.
Most of what we have taken is knitwear, and it runs from fine roll-necks to chunkier, softer textures. There is a pink zip neck roll-neck for the days you want a bit of collar, a crew neck with floral embroidery worked into the camel, and a white leopard eyelash knit with a deep cowl.
The outerwear is a small, deliberate group. Two faux fur jackets, one pale blue and one in a blue leopard print, and a camel quilted puffer with a hood for the days that are simply wet. The taupe faux fur bucket hat belongs with them.
Micha designs from Herning in Denmark and has done since 1932, which by Scandinavian fashion standards makes it something close to an institution. It sells through independent retailers rather than its own shops, so it is not a name you will see on every high street. That suits us.
We carry Micha at our Fleet, Hampshire boutique and online. If you have been looking for a jumper that is not navy, start here.
